Revan's identity as a man or woman would be left ambigous, and how Kotor ended, would be a matter of debate among historians in the Empire and Republic, and people who still know of the name of Revan, would have their own opinion who Revan was, and what actually happened with him/her.

Even if KotOR games are no longer canon (which means that they have no part in current canon continuity), they are still part of "Legends" continuity, where there is still a canon for legends stuff.
