DEF is used about 3%, so assuming you are getting 6 mpg towing that heavy load for 10,000 miles that is 1600 gallons of fuel and 50 gallons of DEF, the tank is not that big. Resetting the DEF. So I have a 2012 Duramax. The DEF fluid got low. It read 200 miles remaining. So I put more DEF fluid in. It held 1.5 gallons. Which is not enough to fill the tank on that. Still reads 200 miles remaining. I have tried resetting it via the check button that resets everything else but no luck.

Just this winter alone it has been in twice to replace the DEF tank heaters. The engine light is currently on, giving me messages on the dash and the truck is currently in the limited speed mode again!
