It starts at the Flag Mountain Trailhead in Alabama, then heads 335 miles through Alabama and Georgia, and finally finishes at the Northern Terminus Trailhead in Georgia, United States.A portion of the 300 plus-mile long premier long distance hiking trail is located in Polk County in the Santa Claus Mountain area. We left the trail head about 9:15am. It was 2.1mi and about 1000ft elevation from the nubbin creek trail head to the first camp site. It was a grueling hike up hill if you over packed your bag.
