And the appearance of the Signalis logo in the artifact ending is a direct meta intrusion which goes beyond just Elster's (one or collective) self-awareness, which to me seems to represent the end of the ritual commenced at the start of the game. The Leave ending cycles because failure repeats the cycle. The Memory doesn't kill Ariane and she forgets us. The Promise ending leaves both unfulfilled but dead next to each other, but don't get me wrong, it's still a fitting and tragic ending but leaves so much unresolved despite lasting so many cycles to stay alive for each other.
