Easiest way I know is to start as Lazarus and reset until the pill is a gulp pill, then just try and find more of that pill. Try and go into every shop, bomb mushrooms, find secret rooms, and just hope you get it in time. Pill placebo or pill generator are the main ways to guarantee you get it.
