I’m wondering if this base fuzz (from right where I took it off the main original mycelium block) looks like mold or regrowth? Ps if it’s mold that’s ok, my agar plates exploded and new mycelium is now quickly growing in a new sterile spawn bag :) Watch out for mold or any growth that looks unusual. Mycelium is white and dense looking, any other colored growth, or spotty growth is likely contamination. It looks like you may have cobweb mold or grey mold. It should smell only of mushrooms. If you try a run again maybe use more spawn and place tinfoil or plastic wrap across the surface of the substrate and remove it once the substrate is all white underneath. Or just poke a few holes in that layer that might work even better.Cobweb will look like cotton candy, very dark grey, and grows really fast. Cube mycelium can kinda look like cobweb when it first starts poking through the substrate, but when you see how cobweb mold grows you can easily spot the difference.
