Mercury 60 hp bigfoot problems.
If your Mercury dealer is fine with it, then make sure that it's properly defined on the invoice so that if you have problems in the future you can come back to the work he did. I can't see anything in the Mercury manual that calls for fogging the 60 hp fuel injected motor. I know that some will put a bit of oil in the spark plug holes.

After approximately 150 hours of use (beginning of summer and end of spring) my [Mercury 60-HP Bigfoot] motor started to have a problem at lower RPM. This was a few weeks after the typical 100 hour maintenance package where the spark plugs and fuel filter were changed. It appears to miss or stutter slightly between 1,200 and 2,500-RPM.2. #1. I have recently purchased a 2007 Mercury 60 hp 4-stroke EFI, and it is unable to get over 4000rpm - although out of gear it can easily get to 6000. I know that it has some kind of protection system, perhaps this has triggered? How best to untrigger this? It will need a full overhaul, new impeller etc perhaps its is overheating slightly?

A thermostat that is stuck shut will cause an overheat at idle. There is a fuel reservoir on the starboard side of the power head . ( follow the fuel lines ) I believe it has a drain, when this crappy fuel with ethanol sits and goes bad it accumulates in this reservoir. At wide open throttle gravity has the float in it's lowest position, needle valve open the widest, and the least amount of fuel in the carb bowl.
