Yes, micro-380's are a challenge to shoot well and consistently, but it is not impossible, an awfully lot depends on the shooter, you know. The magazine release button has a profiled protrude, let's say a cam, that should be polished. It is pretty easy to disassemble a button, but I don't recommend you to do it if you don't know how to put it back. There is a small compressing spring inside in the button. The assembly procedure requests special technics.
I also own the Kimber Micro 9 CSE when I bought that it had problems out of the box. I had FTE problems. That one I had to bend the extractor on it a little and that seems to fix most of the problems. I have found that in that gun it will FTE if I shoot 115 grain. But if I shoot 124 grain the gun will shoot great.

Nosediving. Have to drop the mag, clear the round, close the slide, insert the mag, and rerack to chamber correctly. One 2nd round chambered OK on its own. I have a 380 micro and will never carry cocked and locked. I have been handling and carrying 1911's my whole life and always carry cooked and locked. No grip safety and you are asking for trouble. I have found the safety wiped off on my 1911 and am glad to know that my grip safety is on the job. I also find my mag disengaged on occasion …

Here is a short narrative of the events leading up to the malfunction. The slide locked back as if the magazine was empty. Which it was. She noticed that there was a live round in the chamber. She dropped the magazine and then the slide went forward. She placed the gun on the bench and noticed the slide lock on the bench.But my gf left her .380 in the jeep this fall and it got pretty rusted with the weather. I've cleaned it as good as I can and removed all the rust. Feels phenomenal again. However the hammer will not release from cocked position. I replaced the Ambi on my Kimber 5" and ordered the single replacement from them. There might be something difficult about getting into the Micro to do any work. I don't know. A standard 1911, I can detail strip it blindfolded.From hanging out on the Kimber Talk forum, it has become standard to break-in the Micro 9 with 124gr ammo as has been mentioned. Also, shoot the thing 'wet' during break-in, firm wrist and tight grip.
