The felt recoil with the XD-9 Service and the Glock 19 is probably about the same, which is NEXT TO NOTHING. The main differences between the two is the grip angle and the fact that the Glock 19 is a more concealable pistol due to it's slightly shorter grip. The XD-9 also has a slightly higher magazine capacity than the G19.

I prefer the Glock 19 over the XD9 but again both are good weapons. If this gun is primarily for her then go with what she feels more comfortable with. Both guns will get the job done. Maybe get the G19 now and the XD9 later. The Glock 19s grip is shorter than the XDM 3.8, thats the part thats hard to conceal. The G19 fits better in my hand because it rides lower.
