Duramax ticking noise.

The injector ballance rates are very good, as the truck has 40k on it. I can't locate it, it's easily heard from both passenger and drivers side of truck. It isn't noisy any other time.The ticking sound could be a number of things that have already been described, but the combination of ticking/chirping could be as simple as your belt and/or idler arm. I see you are in ND. If your belt is old coupled with the cold temps, that could also describe your problem. It's a simple idea I know.LML DURAMAX “Knock sounds”!!! The proper repair for that is to replace all of the high presure fuel side and flush the low pressure side. A failure of the hpfp sends tiny little metal bits into the fuel injectors damaging them. It has started making a clicking/ticking sound that can be heard in the cab pretty good and once window is rolled down, it is even louder. It sounds like it is coming from the rear end or bed area.

Sounds like it coming from oil filter location. it does not do it all the time, just kinda comes and goes. I used 10 qts of Rotella T and a ACDelco filter.

Since first taking delivery and continuing at 500 miles, I notice a howling noise whenever the engine is under load. It can be heard at almost any RPM, but seems most noticeable around 1200 to 2000 RPM. I know it’s an old thread, but the L5P in the 2020 is the noisiest, most unpleasant Duramax to date. The thumping, ticking, screeching, and what I’m assuming is injector knock, is almost Unbearable. It is not the typical ticking noise. It is a thumping noise and it is supposedly caused by the fanbelt. On the 2020 there are two belts now and the fan is by itself. GMTECH link has a small description on the problem but no resolution.
