In the early hours of the morning, most of our Walleyes and Big Perch are coming in 9-20 feet of water and they are usually pretty aggressive. However, by about 10:00, that shallow bite has waned, and we are having to drift deeper.

A day here and there they have been a little tough, but for the most consistent bite, they have saved our butts on more than 1 occasion. Today we were in less than 20 feet of water for the duration of the day and we had biters all the way until the final whistle.We were deep, greater than 30 feet of water and that is a big change from the shallow Walleyes and Big Perch that we had been chasing. A large flock of our flying friends hunkered down in open water on the north end of Creel until mid-December when it finally froze over so ice is still playing catch-up. We now have groups following us out to our fish houses with full-size vehicles. After a brief warm-up, the weather is supposed to get cold again, which should keep the fish biting.
