After I did, the liftgate shut fine, but not it won't open at all. I've tried the button on the inside, the key fob, and the button on the liftgate. Nothing seems to work.

Since the battery is kind of tucked away towards the back, it was pretty hard trying to attach the cables to the terminals. I was able to do it though eventually.In terms of diagnostics for a no-start, you would want to start by verifying the engine is fine mechanically. This means the timing is correct and the engine is developing compression. Next you would want to look at spark and fuel.
