I am looking for people's experience / advice / pictures on their HK91 builds from a G3 parts kit or maybe I should refer to it as a G3 semi. I am aware that a complete PTR can be purchased for around $1000, but I already have the parts and a couple of receivers.All the others you mention are built on parts kits and receivers of dubious quality, and should be avoided, IMO. An option that splits the difference between the PTR-91 and a real HK-91 would be an older Springfield SAR-3 or SAR-8. These were manufactured in Greece by Hellenic Arms (again, an HK licensed producer) and imported by Springfield.The receiver of the HK91/G3 is indexed for a claw mount, so that the mount will always be placed at the same spot. H&K claims that this permits the mount to be removed and replaced with a return to zero. I am a bit skeptical of this. I suppose that it would cost me $450 to find out.
